US Military Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, President Trump Stated Without Offering Details.

Former President Donald Trump has asserted that US military assets struck a "major installation" in Venezuela recently. Yet, the former president withheld information about the precise nature or site of the target, and officials have issued no further clarification from his administration.

Vague Remarks Offered In a Radio Show

"We just knocked out – I don't know if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels come from. Recently, we took it out. So we struck them very hard," Trump reportedly said to Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Potential Significance of a Verified Attack

If a US strike were to be verified, it would represent the initial ground target hit since the US Department of Defense initiated a increase of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration asserts operate under the orders of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This initial mission of the force deployment has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at hindering the nation's crude oil shipments.

Online Video and Official Statements

Trump has for some time warned that US forces are prepared to widen the military campaign by attacking targets inside Venezuela, a tactic that would theoretically require legislative authorization.

Video footage circulated on social media on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion allegedly from an industrial area in Zulia state. But, the footage or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a news network that the president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Situation

The Venezuelan government has remained silent on the incident the former president described. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela regarding it.

The presence of American forces in the region – a posture some have termed a maritime "quarantine" – marks the most expansive naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Sources have avoided from describing the operation as a full blockade, but have stated that approximately 15,000 personnel are positioned across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, advanced fighter jets, and law enforcement vessels to implement existing economic sanctions.
