Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party reach places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to form the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
