Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "A strange meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome transformations resonate through the shadows." The storyline features a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine group.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview concludes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Content
This release also brings the game's newest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
